Sometimes I wonder if our kids would trade me in for a cooler version, if they could. I mean, I’m not exactly the coolest parent. Granted, the older ones are boys and they would much rather talk Fifa and Naruto with Hubstopher, than with me. But, to avoid being the boring one (who wants to be THAT parent?), I often look for ways to show them that hey, I can be hip too! -

Fried chicken and egg fried rice so easy my teen made it!
In a strange turn of events my game-head teenage son has decided that he wants to be a chef. Mama’s not complaining. I am ecstatic that the kid’s found something to throw his passion and ambition into. The other night he offered to make his “specialty”, fried chicken and egg fried, for supper. (Keeping in mind he’s never ever made this “specialty” before, so I’m not sure how it became his “specialty”). -

Mother’s Day may be a day for spoils and pampers but I often find myself taking a moment to reflect on the type of mother I am to my kideos and the legacy I am leaving behind for them and my grandkids. Will they remember how much I love chicken? Will they invent and name a chicken dish after me? Must all my thoughts revolve around food? You know, things like that (and a couple of other deeper ones too). -
Mother’s Day is for Mothers
Mother’s Day is around the corner (Sunday, 8th May, to be exact) and while I am aware that I am a mother (and have been one for a very long time) I have yet to earn the perks that come with a Mother’s Day. The simple reason is that my mom and Hubstopher’s mom is still around (and very much kicking) and so the Mother’s Day celebration quota gets evenly distributed between the two of them, leaving nothing but a Sunday school handmade gift for me (sniff sniff sob sob). Not that I mind. Those Sunday school gifts are usually very charming. But this year, I’m like, you know what? I want some Mother’s Day celebrations too!

How my ToyToggle conquered a throwing toddler {Review}
So this child of mine has decided that she likes to throw stuff. I’m serious. Bottles, books, toys, bowls, shoes, my cellphone, nothing is spared. Toddler’s find cause-and-effect experimenting especially delightful hence the constant dropping and bouncing of items. But come on, it’s the 21st century, surely there is SOMETHING a modern mom like myself can do to prevent having to dig around under the bed every time her favorite sippy cup goes missing?! Where’s my batman utility belt when I need it?! -
Is my Tommee Tippee sippy cup safe?
When it comes to social media, it takes me a while to believe the hype about some things. Like, for instance, did they really find a mermaid off the coast of Spain? Like, for real? And these baltic amber beads – what witchcraft is this?! Show me proof! I want to see for myself! So when I started hearing stories that Curlys beloved Tommee Tippee sippy cup is no longer safe to use, I had to investigate! I breastfed my girl for as long as I could and found the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles to be top notch, as she switched from boob to bottle. I mean, you can’t go wrong with Tommee Tippees!

Creative journaling with the Inspire Bible {Review}
I love Easter time. I love that we get to celebrate the life of Jesus and how this period acknowledges his life and death to be real and not some fictitious story, made up and put into a book. There are so many cool ways you could celebrate this time with your kideos. I’ve recently spent some time celebrating with my Inspire Bible but I know many people opt for Easter egg hunts and chocolate parties (and hey, I love chocolate yo!). This is one of those times where I can’t wait for my girl to be a bit older so that I could explore the other ways of celebrating the cross. -
How to take good photos of your toddler
I’m one of those moms who are always camera ready because dammit, my children are gosh darn cute! I love documenting all the weird and wonderful stuff they get up to and literally have tons and tons of photo folders on every computer and hard drive that we own. Fortunately the older ones know to smile when I say “Smile!” (“Nowwww! Or else no XBox!”) But grabbing photos of your toddler can be a bit tricky. Right?

Separation anxiety: The day my toddler wrote me off
Hubstopher and I went on a mini vaca this past weekend. As I mentioned in a previous post, his best friend got married out of town and it would be the very first time that I would be away from my curly girly! My heart broke at the thought of leaving our 16 month old at home, but we were unable to take any of our kids with us. Look, my spreadsheet brain and I thought that we had this separation anxiety thing waxed. I filled my MIL in on curly’s routine, I made sure to pack all her favorite things and we even slept over at MIL’s house the night before, which I thought would help to ease my girl into being there for 3 days.
