You don’t have to be Superman to be super, maaan!
So I left work at 12pm today because my head has been a-throbbing non stop lately. It was bearable until I woke up this morning and felt as if someone had roundhouse kicked me in the face while I was sleeping. Hubstopher kindly and politely picked me up from work, brought me home and…well, left me at home, much to my dismay. There are 101 things that I could be taking care of during this time!!! But he says that I need to “chill and stop trying to be Superman”. -
My week in pics: Weddings, Dresses and Growing Up
As far as these things go, this week has been especially tiring. I have pics to prove it. We seem to be over the top busy lately! So, couple that with excitement and bleughness and coffee (lots of coffee) and you’ll probably be slap dab in the middle of my week. BTW I just spelt “coffee” – COUGHY and sat here staring at the word for a couple of minutes trying to figure out why it looks wrong. Yeah, tiredness level: Mushy Brain.

Blood draw days are meh

Spotted in the blood lab waiting area. Oh the irony. So, as you know, my toddler has a condition called Congenital Hypothyroidism, which means that her thyroid gland is under performing. We now know that it’s because she only has half a thyroid gland. This is a big deal because tiny bodies need thyroid hormones to tell their brains and other parts when to develop. So if the deficiency is discovered too late (or if baby does not get the proper dosage of meds) it could cause slow development, autisim, poor muscle growth and the lack of mental growth. Because of this she has, what I’ve coined, ‘blood draw days’ every few months.

How to toddlerproof your home

My 1 year old has been nothing short of one-derful (excuse the pun…noooot). But with her excessive energy and budding curiosity, I find myself constantly in Super Ninja Mom mode. (Because that’s what I am, you know, when the kids are sleeping). Why? Well, our darling girl puts everything into her mouth! Literally everything. Yes, even that. Everything, I said! I’ve had to sit down and give myself a peptalk: “toddlerproof your home, woman!” Which is a no brainer when you’ve started popping out babies, and I thought I had it all waxed. But there is so much more to think about than simply putting smaller objects away. -
No carb breakfast muffins!
So I’m not exactly the world’s greatest cook. The inside joke in my family, when we have bring and share, is: “Bet ya, Luchae is making pasta again.” I’m that girl. With that said, I’m always looking for easy recipes (preferably one that makes me look like a master chef) or food hacks that make for quick and delish meals and snacks. My most recent discovery (yes, I know, it’s like I’ve been living on the moon for the past few years) is this super-duper easy peasy no carb breakfast muffins. Did I mention that there are no carbs in it? Yes sir! Carb free!

The highschool blues – When mom needs to grow up!
Well, it’s week 2 (or is it 3?) post ‘back to school’ and it has been rather weird for me. I think I’m sitting with a mild case of highschool blues. Kyle started grade 9 this year (I am told this means he is in Standard 7. Moms born before the 90’s hollar). So this means that he feels like quite the veteran high schooler at the moment.

My eyebrows. I know. Hello there 🙂 How are you? I’m fine, thank you for metaphorically asking. Well, as you can see, things have changed a bit around here. It’s a new space! So there’s a biter in my toddlers class
Curly’s teacher calls me aside yesterday afternoon and I’m thinking “uh oh, what did I do.” I know, right? It turns out there’s a biter in Curly’s class. The biter got into my kid TWICE, on the arm, 2 days in a row.

Planning a weekend away without your toddler
Hubstopher and I are prepping for a weekend away in a few weeks time. His best friend is getting married out of town and hubby will be best man, so this wedding is a big deal to him. It’s also a big deal to me because it will be the first time that I will be away from my Curly for such a long period of time!
