If you frequent these here parts, you’ll know that my boy is an aspiring chef. The kid wants to cook. Who am I to stand in his way? A few weeks ago he attempted to make jam as part of a class assignment (what are they teaching kids at school now a days? I likey, I likey alot) He insisted on making the jam himself, but I had to, of corse, step in. We all know that mom knows it all.

Hubstopher’s Game Show Birthday Party
As I had so mushingly shared the other day, my Hubstopher turned the ripe old age of 30 on the 4th of October. He’s not one for having a fuss made of him and I had to hear the “please babe, no parties!” mantra over and over again. But something had to be done! I agreed to no party though and instead, hosted a super rad Game Show Birthday Celebration!Why a game show, I hear you ask. Well, for starters, this guy of mine is pretty peculiar. He is very specific with the things that he finds interesting and everyone knows it. His range of obsessions includes tech stuff, soccer, food and music. So I thought that hey, we should use these things to celebrate the dude! And that’s how the Game Show Birthday
PartyCelebration was born. -
More tricks for curly chicks
I’m a fan of curls, even though I’m not exactly living on the curly side of life. My baby girl, however, has hair that makes random people in shopping malls think that it’s okay to touch it. Bless them. But anyways, so yes, on a good day, she has a major curly afro going on and I love it!
If you recall, I previously posted about the (extremely loose) hair regime that I have going on for Kari. I also try to use natural products on her hair to maintain it’s natural curl. I was advised to try out the Johnson&Johnson curly hair brand but it just dried her hair out. In fact, most baby shampoos did that. I blame the “no tears” chemicals, but what do I know. So yes, we needed something more.

Christmas and the school holidays are just around the corner and boy am I excited! Our girl is 2 years old this year and we are finally able to explore PE and have some toddler fun with her! Fun with a toddler? Yep, it can happen! You need to believe me. Okay, okay, I know you want proof. Fine, let me give you a few examples: -

Mani Monday with Woolworth’s Pretty Paint
I was super chuffed when Woolworth’s Beauty partnered up with the #ECMeetUp a few weeks ago. They gave away fabulous beauty hampers and added a few of their favorites to our goody bags! The biggest score for me though was the introduction to the JTOne nail polish range, ‘Pretty Paint’. I tried a color and had to have them all! (Take that shocked look off your face, ya’ll know I love nail polish!)

World Hunger Month: Adding hope at Oosterland Youth Centre
October 1st will mark the start of World Hunger Month. Yes, a whole month to focus on hunger. In my opinion 1 month is not enough, yo! Did you know that over 11 million South Africans do not have access to proper nutrition and go to bed hungry every night? The saddest thing is that 3.1 million of these are kids. I was shocked to learn that hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined. Woah, that’s a scary way of looking at it. I mean, AIDS, not so easy to fix. Hunger, we can fix. Why are we not fixing it? -
#ECMeetUp: No talk, just pics
I know what you’re thinking: “Luchae, where are the #ECMeetUp pics?!!!”Alright, I’m going to need everyone to calm down. The pics are here, as promised. They were taken by our beautiful Miriam Maulana of New Kid on the Block Photography and she will vouch that great things take time! As we end off this amazing blogging year (I know that we’re still in September… give me this moment to be dramatic, for the love pete!) we’d just like to say, once again, that it’s been awsome hanging out with you guys. Our group of EC bloggers is steadily growing and we are most def seeing more love from brands and businesses. PE is NOT the armpit of South Africa, Gareth Cliff!
